Miss these oppas? Catch them on these 2021 comeback dramas


Korean drama fans are always on the lookout for the next projects of their beloved oppas. Unfortunately, the dramas don’t come quickly enough because actors have to review multiple offers to choose the most interesting ones.

Luckily, Korea’s top leading men have already chosen their next big projects so fans can look forward to these upcoming dramas and films this year.

Lee Min Ho. The Legend of the Blue Sea star returned triumphantly to the small screen after two years of mandatory service with The King: Eternal Monarch last year. In 2021, he is set to appear as the male lead in Apple TV+’s first Korean series entitled Pachinko. The series is based on the bestselling book written by Lee Min Jin. The period drama, which will span eight episodes, will be shot in multiple countries. Lee Min Ho will play the role of Hansu, a powerful merchant with ties to organized crime.

Kim Soo Hyun. After the success of Its Okay Not to Be Okay, a romance drama focused on mental health issues, Kim Soo Hyun received an offer from Netflix for the suspense thriller Finger. He would have played an interior designer who also happens to be moonlighting as a socipathic murderer. However, he rejected the role in favor of the Korean adaptation of the award winning British series Criminal Justice. In this drama, he will play the role of a college student who is accused of a controversial murder. Hwayugi star Cha Seung Won will play the role of the only lawyer who takes his case.

Song Joong Ki. After 2019’s fantasy series Arthdal Chronicles, Song Joong Ki has opted to focus on filming movies (his sci fi film Space Sweepers is awaiting release). He also signed on to play the lead in Bogota, an action drama set in Colombia. Unfortunately, production was delayed because of COVID-19. The Descendants of the Sun actor recently accepted the lead role for Vicenzo. He plays the role of a lawyer and Italian Mafia consiglerie who returns to Korea after clashing with the underworld organization. Production recently had the first script reading while the target release date for the dark drama is on February.

Lee Seung Gi. Le Seung Gi mostly focused on variety projects in 2020 but 2021 will be very different for the talented Korean superstar. He signed on for the action drama Mouse which seems to be anything other than quiet. He will play the role of an upright rookie cop who gets his world turned upside down as he chases down a terrifying serial killer.

Ji Chang Wook. There has been a steady flow of projects for Ji Chang Wook since he was discharged from the military. He starred in back to back romcoms Melting with You, Backstreet Rookie, and Lovestruck in the City. Most recently, it has been rumored that he was offered the lead role in Netflix’s adaptation of the webtoon Annarasumanara where he will play the role of a magician who lives in an abandoned amusement park.

Jung Hae In. Jung Hae In made his mark for his roles the dramas While You Were Sleeping, Something in the Rain, and One Spring Night. For his next project Snowdrop, he plays opposite BLACKPINK’s Jisoo in a period drama about a university student who falls in love with a mysterious stranger who might or might not be a spy.

Bonus: Lee Jong Suk may have just completed his mandatory enlistment last week but he is already in talks for the film The Witch 2. Its a sequel to 2018’s The Witch 1: The Subversion starring Kwon Da Mi and Chooi Woo Shik.
