Bocaue mayor, councilor test positive for COVID-19

BOCAUE, Bulacan – Municipal Mayor Jose C. Santiago Jr. and Councilor Aldrin Sta Ana have confirmed yesterday (January 6) that they both tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

In his statement, Mayor Santiago said when someone informed him that he had an exposure to a person positive for COVID-19, he immediately took a swab test at the Joni Villanueva Molecular Laboratory (JVML) where the result came out to be positive last Tuesday night.

Santiago advises the people he encountered recently to observe themselves and if possible to undergo self-quarantine. "If you feel any symptoms, immediately notify the barangay health officials in your place or call the COVID hotline (0997 601 0408) for assistance so that you will be tested immediately," he said.

Meanwhile, Councilor Aldrin Sta Ana also admitted in his social media post that he was infected with the coronavirus.

Sta Ana said as of press time, he is in good condition but needs to finish the two-week self-quarantine to make sure he could not infect others.

The Bocaue municipal hall is now temporarily closed for one-week disinfection.
