Concerned parties should reserve judgment on the death of flight attendant Christine Dacera until the police investigation is completed, according to Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo.

In a statement Wednesday, Panelo assured that the government would bring the offenders to justice if evidence would show a crime was committed in the death of Dacera.

Dacera, 23, was found unconscious in a bathtub at a hotel in Makati City where she celebrated the New Year's Eve with her friends. She was later declared dead at a hospital. The police filed a provisional charge of rape with homicide against 11 men.

Panelo recognized there have been speculations about the death of Dacera but stressed that it was prudent to wait for the results of the police probe.

"Speculations are freely aired that may not jibe with what the real cause of death is and the circumstances surrounding it. Since the investigation on Christine’s death is on-going, we advise those who are concerned with the case to reserve their judgements until all the facts are in," he said.

"It is best that we await the final result of a thorough investigation by our law enforcement authorities. The autopsy report on the deceased is a guide to determine the cause of death," he added.

Panelo also extended condolences to the family of Dacera and assured justice will be pursued.

"Should there be evidence that a crime was committed, then this administration assures that the offenders thereof, regardless of who they are, will be dealt with in accordance with law that justice may be served," he said.
