MPIC names Atty. Toledo as Managing Director


Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC) reported that Atty. Michael T. Toledo has joined the company as its Managing Director for Government and Public Affairs.

Prior to this, Toledo was the Managing Director of the MVP Group of Companies Media Bureau, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Silangan Mindanao Mining Company, Inc., and Senior Vice-President (SVP) for Public and Regulatory Affairs of Philex Mining Corporation.

Before joining the MVP Group of Companies, Toledo was the President and CEO of the Manila office of Weber Shandwick, one of the world’s largest and leading full-service public relations and advocacy firm with offices in every major business and government capital.

Atty. Toledo served as Press Secretary and Presidential Spokesperson during the administration of former President Joseph Ejercito Estrada and was also the campaign spokesman and media bureau director of former Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro, who ran for president in 2010.

Toledo was a corporate, litigation, labor, intellectual property, and criminal lawyer. He started his legal career at the Angara, Concepcion, Cruz, Regala and Abello law offices (ACCRA Law).

He obtained his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws degrees from the University of the Philippines. He earned his Master of Laws in Public International Law at the prestigious London School of Economics and Political Science through a scholarship grant (Chevening) from the British Government. 

Toledo was recently given the 2019 Most Distinguished Alumni Award for College of Arts and Sciences by the University of the Philippines Manila Alumni Association (UPMAA) and was named Distinguished Bedan for 2019 in Media and Communications by the San Beda University Alumni Association (SBUAA). 

He was also named 2014 CEO Excel Awardee by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) and was re-elected as a member of the Board of Governors of the Manila Overseas Press Club (MOPC) and was also appointed as its spokesperson.

Toledo is an independent director of Philippine Hoteliers, Inc. (Dusit Thani Hotel Group), Miascor Holdings, Inc. (MHI) and Coventry Motors Corp. (CMC). Atty. Toledo sat on the board—as Director and/or Legal and Financial Consultant—of various government-owned and -controlled corporations, such as the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), National Food Authority (NFA), Philippine Aviation Security Services Corp. (PASSCOR), Food Terminal, Inc. (FTI), Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC), and the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA). He was also Chairman of the Board of Pantranco North Express (PANTRANCO).
