Mandaluyong City to launch mobile app for vaccine registration

The Mandaluyong City government is expected to launch next week a mobile application where residents can register in order to avail of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccine.

Mayor Carmelita Abalos said the city government is currently preparing the mobile app that would serve as a registration portal for residents who want to avail of the COVID-19 once it is ready and is approved for use.

“Sisikapin po namin na mabigyan ng bakuna ang lahat ng Mandaleño sa oras na magkaroon na ng bakuna kaya't hinihingi namin ang kooperasyon ng lahat (We will try to get all Mandaleños vaccinated once the vaccine is available so we ask for everyone's cooperation),” Abalos said in a statement.

The mayor announced Monday that the local government has allotted P200 million for the purchase of the COVID-19 vaccines in support of the national government’s vaccination program in the city.

A committee that would oversee the procurement of the vaccine was also formed by Abalos to ensure that all city residents will be inoculated.

“Ang COVID-19 cluster committee members ang mamamahala sa pagbuo ng maayos na sistema sa pagbabakuna at inaasahan silang makumpleto ang lahat ng proseso sa susunod na buwan (The COVID-19 cluster committee members will oversee the development of a proper vaccination system and they expect to complete all processes next month),” the statement read.

The local chief executive said she has also ordered the chairpersons of the city’s 27 barangays to complete the collection of data needed to determine the number of vaccine recipients in the city.

Abalos hopes that the collection of data from residents will be completed soon as the COVID-19 vaccine is expected to arrive by March or April this year.
