DSWD provides Cash-for-Work and Emergency Shelter Assistance to 10,032 families in Bicol region
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has provided Cash-for-Work (CFW) and Emergency Shelter Assistance (ESA) to some 10,000 families in Albay and Catanduanes who were affected by the onslaught of Super Typhoon “Rolly” in November last year.
The DSWD said around 10, 032 families in Bicol region got CFW and ESA amounting to more than P123 million as part of the agency’s recovery programs for calamity victims.
"An initial amount of more than P123 million has been released to DSWD-Field Office (FO) V to cover the ESA and CFW of 10,032 families with totally damaged houses in the Provinces of Albay and Catanduanes caused by typhoon “Rolly”,” it said in an emailed message to the Manila Bulletin when asked about the status of the implementation of CFW and ESA.
The Department said each family receives aid amounting to P12,330. Of the amount, P10,000 is intended for ESA and P2,330 for CFW at P233 per day for 10 days.
"The Department continues its provision of assistance to localities affected by the typhoons that hit the country, particularly during the last quarter of the year when a series of typhoons occurred,” it said.
In a virtual presser on December 28, DSWD Secretary Rolando Bautista disclosed that from January to October, the agency reported a total of more than P1.2 billion disaster response utilization fund.
He said they also delivered a total of 861,490 family food packs and more than 2.1 million various non-food items amounting to over P841.9 million to the local government units (LGUs) as relief augmentation support.
According to Bautista, they provided more than P6.4 million to four regions hit by Typhoon “Quinta--CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, and Central Visayas, and more than P74.1 million worth of assistance to areas affected by Rolly.
He said more than P159.8 million worth of assistance was given to the families affected by Typhoon “Ulysses" in Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, Bicol, National Capital Region (NCR), and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
