Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto on Monday cautioned netizens against fake news and fake quotes circulating on social media.
In a tweet, Sotto urged the public to be vigilant as disinformation remains rampant online.
"New year na new year and dami nang fake news (It's a new year and there are still a lot of fake news)," he wrote.
"Please be careful and vigilant on social media. Tandaan natin kung gaano kadali gumawa ng pekeng balita o mag-imbento ng quote (Please remember how easy it is to create fake news and false quotes)," Sotto added.
Sotto made the warning after a graphic supposedly quoting him on who to vote for in the next elections made rounds on Facebook.
