DSWD's feeding program covers more than 1.7 million children
More than 1.7 million children have benefited from the government’s Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) disclosed on Monday.

DSWD Secretary Rolando Bautista said they released P2.8 billion last year to ensure the full implementation of the SFP amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
"From January to December, more than P1.7 million children have been provided with SFP, amounting to P2.8 billion,” he said.
The implementation of the SFP is part of the DSWD’s contribution to the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) program of the Duterte government.
The SFP is the provision of food in addition to the regular meals to children currently enrolled in child development centers and supervised neighborhood play, Bautista said.
In mid-March last year, the DSWD decided to temporarily suspend "some activities of its programs and services" that require meeting or gathering of beneficiaries and other stakeholders, which include the SFP.
Under the SFP, school children are given food supplementation in the form of hot meals during snack times or mealtimes five days a week for 120 days.
