San-En's Thirdy diagnosed with fractured finger, sits out against Shibuya

Thirdy Ravena sat out San-En Neophoenix’s Japan B.League road game against the Shibuya Sun Rockers on Sunday due to an injured shooting hand.

The Neophoenix said that Ravena was diagnosed with a right fourth finger metacarpal oblique fracture after getting hurt in Saturday’s heartbreaking 81-80 loss to the Sun Rockers.

Ravena suffered the injury during a looseball situation before leaving the game with 5:30 left in the third quarter.

It is still unsure how long it will take for Ravena to make a full recovery. But a lengthy absence may prevent the former Ateneo star from participating in the B.League All-Star Game and Slam Dunk Contest set Jan. 15 to 16 in Mito, Japan.

Ravena had already missed three games this season after testing positive for COVID-19 in late-November.

He’s averaging 8.8 points on 37-percent shooting with 3.7 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 12 games for San-En.

But the Neophoenix entered Sunday’s game holding a 5-21 record, having lost their last outings.
