DILG Secretary Eduardo Año described Casurao as a man of honor who left an indelible mark in his 16-and-half years in the government service and the entire department mourns his untimely passing.

He noted that Casurao “led an institution that works very hard to develop and transform our men and women in the Philippine National Police into respectable, principled, and virtuous personnel and public servants.”

“He will be best remembered for his unparalleled leadership, guidance, and commitment that helped improve our people’s regard and perception on the entire police force, and also for his consequential contributions in all of the institutions he served during his lifetime,’’ Año said.

In honoring Casurao, Año said that “his demise left a void not only at Napolcom but also in the government especially at this time when we continue to rebuild our beloved country.’’

“At this time of grief, we at the department offer our sincerest condolences and most fervent prayers to Atty. Casurao’s family, relatives, colleagues, and friends,’’ he added.

Before he was Napolcom vice chairman, ABS-CBN reported that Casurao served as a councilor in Calbayog City.

Casurao was a former chairman of the People’s Law Enforcement Board (PLEB) in Calbayog City.

He was the general legal counsel of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) from 2013 up to the time of his death.

Casurao was a former vice president of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Calbayog City chapter.
