LEGAZPI CITY - The Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) Bicol has recorded two casualties, and four persons missing due to the heavy rains brought by the tail end of a frontal system in the region since December 31.
In the latest media advisory issued 8 p.m. on January 2, Camarines Sur Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) reported one casualty in Canaman town.
OCD Bicol spokesperson Gremil Naz said that a three-year-old boy drowned in Canaman river when the boat he was riding in capsized on December 30. The body of the victim was retrieved on January 1.
In the town of Pilar in Sorsogon province, a 28-year-old male was reportedly washed away by flood in Sitio Dangray, Barangay Abucay. The body of the victim was found on January 2.
Naz said that aside from two fatalities, four other persons were still missing, as of press time.
He said that three persons reported missing Camarines Sur were from Garchitorena town, while the other was from Bulan town in Sorsogon province.
As of 8 a.m. on January 3, OCD Bicol reported that at least 40 families or 138 persons were still in the evacuation centers.
Naz also said that there were 24 landslide incidents reported in 15 municipalities and two cities due to the weather disturbance.
