Two people died while four others were injured after a bus plying Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City caught fire Sunday.
The Bureau of Fire Protection-National Capital Region Public Information Office (BFP-NCR-PIO) said the fire broke out while the bus was travelling along Pearl Drive in Greater Fairview at 12:39 p.m.
The blaze originated between the front and third row of the of the bus, fire investigators said.
Investigation showed that a passenger had an argument with the conductor. The passenger then threw gasoline at the conductor, who caught on fire and later died. It is yet undetermined where the gasoline came from and how it ignited the fire. The identity of the other fatality is also still unknown.
The fire was declared out at 1:20 p.m.
Fire investigators said the bus was carrying around 20 passengers. Some of them managed to break the glass windows of the bus and jump out.
The BFP NCR PIO pegged the estimated worth of damage at around P50,000.
Investigation is ongoing.
