A four-kilometer bypass road project in Roxas, Isabela is expected to be completed soon as its construction is now in the final phase, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said.

The first three phases of the 4.9-kilometer bypass road project were recently completed and the department is now set to construct the final phase of the project, according to Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar.
“The implementation of the first, second, and third phases of the P271-million multi-year project has already been accomplished through DPWH Isabela 2nd District Engineering Office,” Villar said.
The DPWH Secretary added that 4.44 kilometers of the entire 4.9-kilometer road have been completed with its two inner lanes being concreted.
“Civil works on the completed sections of the bypass road includes concreting of 4.44-kilometer two inner lanes road and the construction of Baramban Bridge 2 spanning 18 lineal-meters, with drainage structures and reinforced concrete box culvert provision,” he said.
The bypass road aims to provide better accessibility to commuters, farmers, and traders from outlying barangays and municipalities in the area.
When fully completed, it is eyed to provide an alternate route for commuters and give additional capacity by diverting vehicles around high-build-up areas to alleviate traffic congestion.
“Easing the transportation between communities in the area will allow for a faster and more convenient means of delivering goods, expanding economic activity and livelihood particularly in the agricultural sector, which was heavily affected by recent calamities that hit Isabela,” Villar said.
