Bridgerton Season 2? Yes, please!

Published Jan 2, 2021 09:59 am

It’s been a week since Netflix released Bridgerton, a regency romance developed by Shondaland (Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder) from the bestselling book series written by Julia Quinn.

Since it dropped on Christmas day, it has consistently maintained its position in the Top 10 Netflix shows in the Philippines with Pinoys raving over its large scale production, the romance, the intrigue and of course, the steamy intimate scenes that both shocked and impressed viewers because of the bold approach.

With the tremendous success of the series, Netflix is reportedly preparing to begin production on Season 2. While there is no formal announcement of a renewal from the streaming giant just yet,  HYPERLINK "https://www.productionweekly.com/" Production Weekly has already listed Bridgerton to begin filming on March 2021.

Here’s what to expect from the next Bridgerton chapter.

The season will center on the eldest Bridgerton. With the set up that happened for Anthony Bridgerton’s character, viewers are most certainly assured that the series will follow the book saga’s trajectory.

The second book is entitled The Viscount who Loved Me will center around Anthony’s courtship of the next Season’s Incomparable, Edwina Sheffield. However, because of his rakish ways, Edwina’s older sister Kate tries to keep her sister from falling into the hands of Anthony. Anthony begins to develop feelings for the strong-willed Kate and she begins to see the Bridgerton viscount in a new light.

Dealing with fears. While for the most part of Bridgerton Season 1, viewers witness Anthony wrestling with his responsibilities as a young viscount charged with protecting the Bridgerton family, fans will get to better understand the young nobleman, and his deepest fears about his mortality in Season 2. Viewers will also understand why he keeps on looking at the watch that his father gave him.

A true Incomparable. Kate Sheffield did not come from a wealthy background. She had to push her Society debut back by a couple of years because her family only had enough funds for one London season for the two Sheffield  sisters. She is no stranger to making sacrifices and she has her own personal demons to wrestle with as well. Her love-hate relationship with Anthony will prove to be most interesting because the outspoken miss can hold her own in any argument.

Unfortunately, Kate is a new character and casting has yet to be announced but fans are keeping their fingers crossed that the actress will be as spunky as her literary counterpart.

Two years in the making? The first Bridgerton series was released two years after it was confirmed in July 2018. However, the production had to put together the set pieces together from scratch. Perhaps, Season 2 would take a shorter time to produce since most of the collaterals are already in place? Fingers crossed (again).
