FAMOUS: Elijah Canlas gives teaser of 'Gameboys 2'

Elijah Canlas is the 2020's "Actor of the Year." True to the essence and weight of the title, Elijah won various local and international acting awards as well as top billing in major television and streaming productions that did well in the ratings and views game. Elijah gave his reaction in this exclusive interview.

“It’s hard to articulate how I feel about it but when I saw the article, basta nagka-goosebumps talaga ako. Just like any other award or recognition, it makes me feel grateful and more challenged to level up my game. I try to work the hardest I can, and ibinibigay ko talaga maximum effort ko sa lahat ng ginagawa ko. Marami-rami na rin akong pinagdaanan kaya kahit papaano, I feel fulfilled. It assures me somehow that I am in the right path. But the work doesn't end here. Ang dami ko pang kailangang matutunan sa sining ko at sa buhay," Elijah said.

A year when the majority of us tagged as “malas” and “the year we never expected”, the actor is thankful for all the blessings he received left and right.

“Ako rin naman po, gusto nang matapos ang taong 2020. Hindi masaya ang buhay pandemya. Ang daming nagsu-suffer at marami nang mga buhay ang nawala. But I don’t want to seem ungrateful for all the blessings I received this year. I am lucky enough to be blessed during a time like this. Napakalaking pasasalamat sa Diyos, sa pamilya, at lahat ng mga sumusuporta para sa opportunities at sa walang sawang pagmamahal. It’s just hard to celebrate these knowing that the reality of this pandemic and everything else that happened this year still looms over all of us. Nakikiisa ako at naniniwalang bubuti din ang lahat,” he added.

Elijah admitted that Christmas season is his most favorite time of the year.

“Mahalaga sa akin na i-celebrate ang panahon na ito kasama ng aking pamilya at mga minamahal sa buhay. Medyo maikli lang ang holiday break ngayon dahil babalik na din po ako sa lock-in (taping) kaya I really want to spend a lot of my time with them," he said.

The lead actor of “Paano Ang Pasko” partially revealed his 2021 career calendar.

“Na-extend po ang 'Paano Ang Pasko' to a second book. And I honestly think the show gets better every episode. Iba na rin po ang kwento ng bagong season kaya kahit ako nae-excite nang gawin at mapanood ito mismo. In production na rin po ang second season ng 'Gameboys' at ang masasabi ko lang talaga ay napakaganda ng materyal. So many things to be excited about. Basta sa akin, I will always challenge myself to be a better artist and better person every day,” Elijah revealed.

And with all the big things that happened in 2020, this actor chooses to remain positive.

“Mahirap mabuhay nang may regrets. As much as possible, I always face the consequences of my mistakes, learn from them, and make the most out of every opportunity. Gusto ko pong isipin na nagawa ko naman lahat ng iyon ngayong taon. There’s so much room to grow. Basta gagalaw ako thinking of everything’s effect.”

“Maraming tao ang dapat pasalamatan. Literal na hindi ko ginawa at kinaya ang mga ito nang mag-isa. Salamat sa lahat-lahat!!! I feel so blessed and fulfilled. Mahal na mahal ko kayong lahat!”

Elijah is currently busy with the second season of “Paano ang Pasko” entitled “Paano ang Pangako” and the soon-to-be-released “Gameboys” season two and “Gameboys” movie.
