'No basketball training' in Sorsogon as local PNP clears Aldin Ayo of liability

The office of Sorsogon Governor Chiz Escudero certified a police report which cleared former University of Santo Tomas coach Aldin Ayo of any legal liability following the infamous Sorsogon bubble.

In a document dated Sept. 28, the provincial government said it is in “consonance with said memorandum’s findings” as Ayo and the Growling Tigers had “legitimate activities.”

The Sorsogon City police reported that “there was no UST sanctioned team basketball training conducted at the domicile of Mr. Aldin V. Ayo nor was there any prohibited basketball activities conducted by his guests outside of his residence and within the jurisdiction of the Province of Sorsogon.”

The memorandum also stated that all actions performed by the team were in accordance to health protocols and guidelines set by the IATF and the Joint Administrative Order (JAO) Group.

Ayo and the UST Tigers have been under scrutiny for the past months, which resulted in the resignation of Ayo and UST athletic director Fr Jannel Abogado, as well as the departure of seven players.

It also led to UAAP banning Ayo from the league indefinitely.
