Former Adamson University star Amanda Villanueva is retiring from playing professional volleyball.
Villanueva, 28, announced her decision on her social media account on Thursday, saying that she is moving on to the next chapter of her life.
“Every end is a new beginning. Thank you, volleyball. Thank you to the community. You will always be in my heart. Cheers to life!” Villanueva wrote.
Villanueva thanked the people behind her 18-year-old career, from her high school coach Sheila Lauchengco to her collegiate and pro teams.
Overall, she thanked the sport for becoming her “ticket to endless possibilities."
Villanueva won a UAAP title with Adamson Lady Falcons in 2014, then joined BanKo Perlas in the Premier Volleyball League and Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors in the Philippine Superliga.
