Execration finally broke its curse against powerhouse Onic PH when it handed the two-time runner-up a sweet sweep in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Pro League-Philippines (MPL-PH) Season 6 on Sunday night.
The Billy "Z4pnu" Alfonso-coached team showed tenacity in the games that went down the wire to avenge its forgettable three 0-2 losses to Johnmar "OhMyV33NUS" Villaluna's squad in the past two seasons.
Patrick James "E2MAX" Caidic on his Luo Yi came up with a clutch back-line Diversion (ultimate skill) that enabled Execration to prevail in a crucial clash in the 17th minute.
Jason Rafael "Jay" Torculas' core Natalia kept Onic alive as he went for a sneaky split-push on the bottom lane to force mega minions.
But a team fight in the river area favored Execration as Jaylord "Hate" Gonzales' Esmeralda secured the Lord kill with retribution before Jeff Lenjesson "S4gitnu" Subang's Chou picked off Danerie James "Wise" Del Rosario's Chang'e to deny a base defense.
Onic dragged Game 2 to another late battle through the magic burst from the Feathered Air Strike of Wise's Pharsa.
However, a miscalculation by Joshwell Christian "Iy4knu" Manaog's Roger cost them the Lord kill in the 21st minute.
With the Lord on their side and the damage of an unconventional double-marksman lineup (Hate's Yi Sun-shin and Benedict "Bennyqt" Gonzales' Wanwan), Exe wiped out Onic's base and sealed the sweet revenge.
Execration joined Blacklist International anew at No. 2 in Group A with 17 points while Onic stayed at No. 3 in Group B with 15 points.
Nonetheless, the last season's runner-up squad had already secured a playoff spot following Blacklist's win over BSB.
The MPL-PH standings remained pretty much the same at the conclusion of the sixth week.
