79 percent of LGUs in Pangasinan still have active COVID-19 cases
LINGAYEN –  Around 79 percent of the local government units (LGUs), or 38 municipalities and cities, in Pangasinan still have active cases of coronavirus disease (COVID -19).
According to the Provincial Health Office (PHO), the official tally of COVID-19 infections in Pangasinan, as of September 28, was at 877 confirmed cases, 513 recovered, 334 confined, and 30 deaths.
On Saturday and Sunday, the PHO recorded 52 new infections.
The youngest new case of COVID19 was a 21-day-old male from Urdaneta City, who was asymptomatic and confined at an isolation facility, while the oldest was 71, a male from Dagupan City, who was also asymptomatic and confined in an isolation facility.
The municipalities which have no active cases of COVID-19 were Agno, Anda, Bani, Burgos, Dasol, Infanta, Mangatarem, San Jacinto, Umingan, and Sto Tomas.
Due to the alarming number of COVID-19 cases, Governor Amado Espino III has called on the police to impose stricter border controls in the province, and appealed on local leaders and Pangasinenses to adopt intensified efforts to address the pandemic.
Espino said, Pangasinenses must comply with the strict health protocol like wearing of face mask, observance of physical distancing and proper handwashing.
