Zeus' sister comes in defense: He is innocent

Deejay Torquator, sister of esports shoutcaster Zeus, defended her brother who was allegedly involved in a sexual harassment incident which stunned the growing industry. 

In a lengthy message sent to the Manila Bulletin on Sunday night, Deejay insisted that the allegations were false and that his brother, a known personality in the esports circuit, should not be dragged in the sensitive issue.

Liyab Esports' professional player and shoutcaster Em “Kaisaya” Dangla accused Zeus of allegedly spreading a private video of her and ex-boyfriend Aron Laxamana.

“My brother has been involved in a situation almost two years ago where he has been accused to be involved in spreading a private video of his female colleague within their esports community. Shin Boo (Shin Boo Ponferrada) asked him directly to send it to him and that he can be trusted. My brother asked him again if he was sure of it and the guy said ‘Gentleman’s handshake,’” said Deejay.

She added that there were no criminal charges filed against Zeus almost two years ago.  

“There were no formal case(s) filed against my brother two years ago. We were ready to file (a case) against those people who had ruined my brother’s blooming career,” she said, while also expressing her hope that the esports community will be fair about the issue. 

“To (the) esports community, I know your community involves too much competition but still you are still one that is trying to be a success so instead of taking one side, better know the whole story first." 

“May you have a safe space for everyone in your community,” she concluded.

Manila Bulletin has reached out to Zeus through his Facebook account and page, and is waiting for his response regarding the issue. 

Meanwhile, The Nationals commissioner Ren Vitug in a statement on Sunday night condemned sexual abuse, exploitation and harassment in the esports scene. 

“The league will continue to be committed to providing a safe and comfortable environment for all of our players, talents, and colleagues regardless of age, gender, and race.”

Various esports organizations and figures earlier came out with their own statements calling for a safer working environment in the industry.
