SuperM releases debut studio album 'Super One'

K-pop supergroup SuperM made their comeback today, Sept. 25, with the release of their first ever studio album “Super One” and the music video for the carrier single “One (Monster & Infinity).”

Seven-member SuperM is composed of Baekhyun and Kai of EXO, Taemin of SHINee, Mark and Taeyong of NCT 127, and Lucas and Ten of WayV.
With “Super One,” SuperM delivers the message: ““We all have the power of each (One) as a special (Super) existence, so let’s overcome together with the power of (One).”

“Super One” is a follow-up to the group’s debut album “SuperM,” released in October 2019 and which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard 200.

The lead song “One (Monster & Infinity)” is a hybrid remix song that combined “Infinity” and “Monster,” which are also included in the studio album. SuperM made their US TV debut performance of the song on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” earlier this week.

During an online press conference on Sept. 25, Baekhyun said the new album “includes songs of diverse genres, making me feel like it's not until now that we have an album that can clearly show SuperM's colors. Hope you guys will be able to feel that color through 'Super One,’" Osen reported.

"Although it includes many different genres, there is one message throughout the album. It is hope, the message telling everyone to overcome the difficulties we are having these days with our collective strength,” said Kai.

He added that “because this is our first full album, we want to show the harmony between our members as a group. Hope that you will place a lot of expectations on the synergy that SuperM will present. Besides, we also want to deliver the message and hope incorporated in this album."

About “One (Monster & Infinity),” Taemin said he “thought it wouldn't be appropriate to put two strong songs together, but it turned into a really nice harmony. You guys will find it interesting if you try listening to this song and compare it with the b-side songs on the album. The song 'Sherlock" by SHINee was also released in a similar way.”

SuperM also announced their collaboration with Marvel Entertainment for the release of SuperM x Marvel limited edition package collection.

“It’s exciting to be collaborating with an innovative company such as Marvel. We look forward to additional future projects with Marvel,” said Lee Soo-man, founder of SM Entertainment.

According to Mark, "Our image and the Avengers always go hand in hand because the group is often introduced as K-pop's Avengers from the very first day of debut. As a Marvel fan, I also feel extremely honored to have this opportunity."

Taeyong credited Lee Soo-man for SuperM’s popularity outside Korea, saying, "I think it's all thanks to the excellent production of teacher Lee Soo Man. At the same time, we are greatly loved since each member has his own work experience. It is also because of the members' special skills, chemistry, and the breakthrough attempts from a coalition group."
