WATCH: This ad brings much-needed dose of hero humor with its epic tale

Some are calling it the ‘Best Commercial of the Year!’

In Philippine cinema, we all know the actor who portrayed eternal characters, the one and only Fernando Poe Jr. Thanks to those roles, the King was seen as a hero not just in the movies but also in real life. His roles and pompadour are iconic, and gave many actors a run for their money.

One other thing that can make a man stand out from the rest is scent. With no guns or swords, if a hero has nothing else but a scent so powerful, he might be able to make a planet cheer for him in praise.

Old Spice commercials have always been known for outrageously comical visuals, and once again it did not disappoint. The men’s antiperspirant and deodorant brand is back with its new campaign #TheSmellThatNeverDies, serving much-needed entertainment—a commercial made in the Philippines for Filipino men who deserve nothing less.

The action-packed video features an all-Filipino cast led by actor Victor Silayan as the ultimate action hero who never dies thanks to his superpower, an irresistible long-lasting smell. We see him get saved by sharks in depths of the sea, have a jungle rumble with twin anacondas, survive a jeepney explosion, and more. Ridiculously funny are Frenchie Dy’s appearances as she pops up in the most random places singing the clever and James Bond-ish song of the ad.

Filipino netizens are raving about Old Spice’s latest campaign, admitting that they’ve watched the commercials countless times! The YouTube comments are flooded with comments like:

“This is the only ad I searched for because this was funny. The song was catchy too.”

“The only ad I didn't skip... Even searched for it to re-watch.”

“The best Filipino old spice ad.”
