Maharlika FC gets support from Mayor Isko, City of Manila

Maharlika FC forged an agreement with the City of Manila as its LGU partner ahead of the planned start of the Philippines Football League next month.

The new club, led by founder Anton del Rosario, coach Roxy Dorlas and striker Misagh Bahadoran, recently paid a visit to Manila Mayor Isko Moreno to finalize the partnership.

“Manila and the Maharlikas go way back in Philippine history,” said Maharlika general manager Choy Calungsod.

“It is with great intent that our club will help steer Philippine football towards the right direction in the future. The partnership with the City of Manila is a dream come true.”

Under the agreement, the club will be known as Maharlika Manila FC.

Maharlika is the third football club to tap the country’s capital as LGU partner, joining the Manila Jeepney of the defunct United Football League and Meralco-Manila during the inaugural PFL season in 2017.

The club gained a provisional license to participate as one of six clubs for the PFL season.
