Cuyo reports 1st case of COVID-19 local transmission

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan- The northern island town of Cuyo in Palawan recorded its first case of local transmission of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Based on the statement of the patient, he had contact with a patient, who died recently without knowing the result of his COVID-19 test, which later turned out to be positive.

Accordingly, the local government of Cuyo is conducting contact tracing.

"Mga kababayan, positibo ang resulta ng swab test sa naging close contact ng namatay na residente ang Barangay Cabigsing na walang travel history," according to the Estra Viva Cuyo, official Facebook page of the Cuyo local government.

The COVID-19 fatality reportedly did not have any travel history, and, so far, 21 persons have been determined to have had close contact with the patient.
