SsangYong updates the Rexton for 2020

Published Sep 21, 2020 01:27 pm

Bored of the usual SUV choices? SsangYong hopes to offer a refreshing alternative in the form of its new 2020.5 Rexton. Bearing design updates for the latter half of 2020, the new Rexton features better, bolder, and braver updates, cementing its position as the flagship SUV of Korean SUV Specialist brand, SsangYong.

Among the most distinctive changes is a fresh honeycomb grill design that tapers below the headlights. Its headlight bezel color has been refinished into a more elegant Titanium Gray. The new headlight housings add a metallic luster that further accentuates the refinement. There is also now a more luxurious sixth color option available for the new model. Marble Gray is introduced for the first time in the 2020.5 SsangYong Rexton. It joins Atlantic Blue, Fine Silver, Grand White, and Space Black as premium color options for the Rexton line.

Inside, the Rexton (in 4x4 trim) continues to up the ante with its unique premium brown stitching quilted leather interiors. For the 4x2, seat ventilation for the driver and passenger seats is introduced; a welcome addition of luxury and comfort.

All SsangYong Rexton variants continue to offer improved seven-seater comfort and entertainment with their eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Each can deliver crisp video and audio over six-speakers. LED interior lights also make the cabin brighter and more modern in finish. They all continue to offer a 220-volt outlet perfect for plugging in small convenience appliances or chargers for long drives.

The 2020.5 SsangYong Rexton 4x4 also gets a smart key fob. The key boasts of new functions like headlamp activation (to find it in a parking lot) and remote tailgate operation.

As for safety, the Rexton offers a comprehensive suite with its six airbags for the 4x4 variant, ABS and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and Brake Assist. It also comes with driving aids such as Electronic Stability Program and Hill Descent Control.

Finally, to add to the value and ownership experience, every 2020.5 SsangYong Rexton purchase comes with free five-year preventive maintenance along with its existing five-year vehicle warranty.

This means new SsangYong Rexton owners will appreciate the longer duration of its worry-free maintenance which will include the cost of oil, parts and labor for each of the scheduled PMS intervals for the next five years, or up to 100,000-kilometers, whichever comes first.

The Rexton is being introduced with a PhP 1,760,000 starting price.

“We are proud to reveal the most exclusive SsangYong SUV yet - the 2020.5 Rexton,” said Japheth Castillo, president of SsangYong Philippines. “Our customers deserve a nameplate that not only comes with the confidence-inspiring ability of driving through any type of road surface, but doing so in style and refined comfort. The new SsangYong Rexton will surely deliver a more luxurious presence on the road and an even more value-laden ownership experience for our most discerning SUV clientele.”
