Over 5-M Pinoys to benefit from PTT distance learning

With the demand surge for connectivity and distance learning under the new normal, Philippine Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (PT&T) partnered with community-driven social enterprise Go Philippines to provide 5.1 million Filipinos with online courses and employment accreditation.

PT&T is providing internet connectivity for Go Philippines' e-learning platform for the distance learning initiative.

Already, Go Philippines has partnered with Fortune Global 100 and Filipino companies, Philippine government, and non-governmental organizations associated with academia. It is also supporting 3,000 scholarships annually.

Based in Bonifacio Global City with an office in Batangas City, the company fosters accessible and affordable learning.

“Relevant support for causes like this, especially in these challenging times, is essential for our nation to bounce back,” stressed Ricky Pena, PT&T general manager for Broadband Services.

"Schools moved quickly to adopt distance learning tools to overcome challenges of the pandemic," observed Michael Goldsmith, Go Philippines co-founder and chief visionary officer.

"Unfortunately, even the best Learning Management System will fail without quality connectivity," he remarked.

"Our partnership with PT&T permits us to deliver critical Broadband Internet solutions for academia improving user experience for a quality education,” Goldsmith added.

“PT&T continues to seek out opportunities where we can serve where we are most needed, in this case, in providing much needed infrastructure in the education sector,” according to Pena.

Currently, PT&T has a network reach of 13,500 fiber kilometers in high-growth areas and covering almost 40 percent of the total Philippine population.

Last year, the telco ventured into the Information Technology (IT)services space, offering enterprise grade solutions to complement its connectivity portfolio.

PT&T holds a 25-year franchise to establish, maintain, and operate both wired and wireless telecommunications systems for domestic and international communication in the country.
