San Juan City to hire 50 more contact tracers

San Juan City is now hiring 50 additional contact tracers to further beef up its contact tracing efforts of those exposed to patients infected with coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Mayor Francis Zamora urged city residents to be part of the city’s contact tracing team.

“The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and San Juan need 50 contact tracers in our fight against COVID-19,” Zamora said.

The DILG has started this week the hiring of at least 50,000 contact tracers nationwide to ramp up the country’s contact tracing program to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said the additional contact tracers “will allow us to cut the transmission of the disease and ultimately defeat COVID-19.”

“The DILG is looking for dedicated and patriotic individuals who want to join the fight against COVID-19. If you want to take an active part in defeating the pandemic, join the DILG Contact Tracing Teams!” he said.

The local government of San Juan said those interested to apply must have a bachelor’s degree, preferably related to medicine or health services, skilled in data gathering, and has “investigative capabilities.”
