But we've been eating that liver spread for a long time!

It looks like it's going to be the lasting time we're having a taste of our favorite liver spread in pandesal, menudo, and other viands as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warns the general public not purchase and consume it, as well as other unregistered food products and supplements:

2. MIRACLE WHITE Advance Whitening Capsules Food Supplement

3. TURCUMIN 100% Natural & Standardized Turmeric Curcumin

4. DESA Spanish Style Bangus in Corn Oil

5. SAMANTHA’S DIPS AND SAUCE Spanish Sardines Paste Sauce

Through online monitoring or post-marketing surveillance, the FDA found out that the following products are not registered and have no Certificates of Product Registration (CPR) issued.

"Since these unregistered food products and food supplements have not gone through evaluation process of the FDA, the agency cannot assure its quality and safety," the FDA says. "All concerned establishments are warned not to distribute, advertise, or sell the said violative food products until CPR are issued, otherwise, regulatory actions and sanctions shall be strictly pursued."

The FDA advises all law enforcement agencies and local government units to inspect and ensure that the products are not sold in their areas. 

For the consumers, there are ways to check if food and other consumable products are safe and FDA-approved.

"Always check if a product has been registered with the FDA before purchasing it by making use of the embedded Search feature of the FDA website accessible at www.fda.gov.ph,"  theregulatory agency says. "Consumers may also look for the FDA Registration number on the product label, if available or the name of the product."
