DILG needs 1,473 contact tracers in Eastern Visayas

TACLOBAN CITY - The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG-8) is in need of 1,473 contact tracers (CT) for Eastern Visayas.

They will be hired by the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force (RIATF), and will be distributed to the six provinces in Region 8. Most of them will be deployed in areas with the highest number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases.

The contact tracing program is being implemented following the approval of the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act or Bayanihan 2 Law.

Applicants must either be a bachelor’s degree holder or college level in an allied medical or criminology courses because the job will entail profiling, data gathering through interviews, research, and documentation with investigative ability.

Each contact tracer is expected to be dedicated and patriotic with a willingness to do in-depth search and research for possible contacts, because “this is the essence of the job,” as DILG Secretary Eduardo Año put it.

The job is contractual with P18,784 monthly compensation. However, the job duration was not specified.

Job aspirants may submit their application to DILG provincial offices or to the Regional Office here. The deadline for submission is Friday, September 18)

There are already 94,700 contact tracers in the country, and the additional 50,000 newly hired will cut the transmission of the disease and ultimately defeat COVID-19, according to Año.

Returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), whose jobs were disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, will also be given priority for the job.
