ILIGAN CITY – Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal 'Bombit" Adiong, Jr. has confirmed that he has tested for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

In a statement issued September 15, the 56 years old governor said that, upon learning that he was directly exposed to a COVID-19 positive recently, he immediately placed himself under the care of medical workers at the Amai Pakpak Medical Center (APMC), and underwent reverse transcription-polymerase chain react (RT-PCR) test.
"It is with regret to inform the public that last night, at around 10 p.m., I tested positive for the virus in spite of strict adherence to minimum health standards. I have decided to immediately admit myself at the same medical facility for further treatment and isolation,"said Adiong.
Adiong said he was feeling mild symptoms, but maintained that he was “generally well and in high spirits”.
He also called on those, who may have come in close contact with him the past few days to subject themselves to 14-day quarantine.
“When the pandemic started, we strictly abided by the minimum health standards set by the Department of Health (DOH), the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Ministry of Health, and the World Health Organization (WHO) in all our public engagements,” Adiong said.
These included the wearing of face masks, face shields, frequent handwashing, social distancing, and the constant use of alcohol and sanitizers.
“However, despite complying with all these preventive measures, there was still a slim chance of contracting the virus as we continue to pursue the mandate of our office. This is indeed a testament that the threat of the virus is real and it does not discriminate,” Adiong stressed.
