Karateka James De los Santos bags 2 online bronze medals

After winning two gold medals last week, former national karate team member James De los Santos settled with a pair of bronze medals in two tournaments he joined last week.

De los Santos, who has won a total of eight gold medals from various online competitions, captured bronze medals in the Golden League Karate E-Tournament and the 4th Adidas Karate World Open.

Technicalities were the “main reasons” why the 30-year-old De los Santos failed to advance in the final round.

“In the Golden League Karate e-Tournament, I had a technical error in my video,” said De los Santos. “The last bow in my kata was cut in the video by accident… no bowing is considered a huge foul.”

“But I’ve learned from this mistake, and I applaud the judges for being on top of it.”

De los Santos is still competing in the SportData E-Tournament World Series, which already started last Friday.

It is one of the biggest events in online tourneys because of points accumulated for the world ranking, where he is currently at No. 2 behind Portugal’s Eduardo Garcia.

Last week, De los Santos won two gold medals as he ruled the Miyamoto Musashi Five Rings event and the 2nd Dutch Open E-Tournament.

De los Santos also captured gold medals in the E-Champions Trophy World Series early this month, the e-Karate Games 2020 and Athletes E-Tournament last August, the Balkan Open eTournament last July, the Korokotta Cup last June and the Palestine International Karate Cup last April.

With the two bronzes he bagged, De los Santos now has a total haul of eight gold medals, two silvers and four bronzes since he started joining online karate e-kata tournaments in April.
