VIRAL: A beautiful traditional Muslim engagement for Congresswoman Bai Rihan Mangudadatu Sakaluran

Public servant and congresswoman, Princess Rihan Mangudadatu Sakaluran, posted on her Facebook page photos of her engagement with her fiance Al-shadat Hassan Abdurajak, a police lieutenant. She told Manila Bulletin Lifestyle, “The original plan for our engagement was June 28 for 1,000 guests but since the lockdown and pandemic happened, it was canceled. Then, we planned for a small ceremony for our family. The planning took us only one month because madalian lahat (everything was rushed).”

Despite the celebratory event being trimmed down to only 100 guests, the Sept. 3 ceremony didn’t scrimp on the minute details. With over 43,000 likes and 18,000 shares as of this writing, well-wishes and congratulatory comments from her constituents filled her post. People couldn’t resist leaving comments about how wonderful the setup was, even appreciating how much the couple valued their culture and traditions.

As for the actual wedding, the congresswoman adds, “We are planning to have it in 2021. We have a booking in Manila and here in our province.”
