Highest single day increase in COVID-19 cases posted in Tarlac
TARLAC CITY, Tarlac (PNA) – The number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases continued to rise in this province with 24 new infections reported on Saturday, bringing the number of active cases to 134.
The Tarlac COVID-19 Task Force said that, of the total new COVID-19 cases, 10 came from Concepcion town, nine from this city, two from Camiling, and one each from Victoria, La Paz, and Bamban.
It was the highest single-day increase in COVID-19 cases since the pandemic hit the province.
The task force also said the new infections included three health workers and a pregnant woman.
The three infected health workers were a 33-year-old woman from Barangay Sta. Cruz and a 31-year-old man from Barangay Matatalaib, both in this city and a 40-year-old woman from Barangay Dumarais, La Paz.
They were all asymptomatic, and already under quarantine, the task force said.
Meanwhile, the 22-year-old pregnant woman from Barangay Santiago, Concepcion had a history of contact with a COVID-19-positive case.
She developed mild symptoms on September 9, and was swabbed on the same day at the Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit.
The positive result came out on September 11.
The patient was up for assessment at the Tarlac Provincial Hospital, the task force added.
With this development, the total number of confirmed cases in the province rose to 279.
On the other hand, the total number of recoveries remained at 136. while the total number of deaths stayed at 13.
