Baguio City's health programs remain on-target despite COVID-19 crisis

BAGUIO CITY --The City Health Services Office (CHSO) has disclosed that the implementation of the city government’s health-related programs and projects for this year were still right on-target despite the ongoing coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

Dr. Donabel Tubera-Panes, head of the CHSO’s infectious disease cluster, said the different district health centers in the city have continued to perform their duties and responsibilities pursuant to their mandate aside from being actively involved in the ongoing COVID-19 response efforts.

Panes said this ensured that other health-related concerns of the residents were effectively and efficiently addressed. 

She said that because of the vigilance of the health workers, in close coordination with the barangay health emergency response teams (BHERTs), the CHSO was able to identify some clustering of dengue fever cases in some areas in the city where appropriate mitigating measures and strategies have been employed to address the problem. 

Panes said different health programs and projects of the city, such as the immunization, tuberculosis control and prevention, health awareness campaign, have also been implemented by the assigned health personnel from the different district health centers thus health-related issues and concerns had been immediately acted upon.

Panes asserted that different illnesses and diseases should be treated, and the CHSO continues to strongly advocate for public’s adherence to standard health and safety protocols.
