Albert Pagara signs with MTK Global following ALA Promotions closure

Super bantamweight Albert Pagara has found a new home in the Dubai-based MTK Global, weeks after the closure of ALA Boxing Promotions.
MTK said it had signed the 26-year-old Pagara to an advisory deal, becoming the first Filipino to sign with the promotion.
“It’s a great honor to be part of the same team as some of the biggest names in professional boxing, so I am happy and thankful for this opportunity,” said Pagara, who joins a stable that includes current WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.
“I have a good record and I’m pleased with what I’ve achieved so far, but I feel I can still do so much more. That’s why I signed up with MTK Global and D4G Promotions,” added Pagara, who sports a ring record of 31-1 with 21 knockouts.
The Maasin City native is hoping that signing with MTK will open doors for possible world title opportunities. Pagara is currently ranked No. 7 by the WBO.
Pagara last fought in Aug. 2019 with a TKO victory over Thailand's Ratchanon Sawangsoda in Ormoc, Leyte.
“I hope to soon fight for a title, and I know MTK Global and D4G Promotions will help me in this regard. I have complete trust in them to help me achieve my dreams,” he said.
He joins MTK less than a month after the Cebu-based ALA Promotions closed shop after 35 years due to the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I started boxing when I was eight-years-old because of my father, and it led to my brother and I both becoming professional boxers and joining ALA Promotions,” he said.
“I give big credit to ALA Promotions for my success and most of what I have achieved in my career as a boxer. I wouldn’t be where I am now if not because of them,” added Pagara.
