PFF to Global FC: Settle financial obligations in 90 days or license is revoked

The Philippine Football Federation on Tuesday suspended the club license of embattled Global FC for 90 days for failing to meet financial obligations of its players and staff.

The PFF also said that Global could have its license revoked if it fails to meet the three conditions set by the federation’s club licensing first instance body after the given period.

“After evaluation, the FIB has issued a 90-day suspension of Global FC’s PFF license due to the club’s failure to settle its overdue payables to its employees (players, officials and staff),” the PFF said in a statement.

“Global FC was also directed ‘to demonstrate within 90 days that its overdue payables to employees has been (i) fully settled, (ii) deferred by mutual agreement by the creditor or (iii) are subject to a not obviously unfounded dispute submitted to a competent authority.’

“Failure of the club to do so will lead to the revocation of Global FC’s PFF license for PFL Season 2020 and ineligibility to compete in the league or apply for a renewal of club license,” the PFF added.

Global has been hounded with issues surrounding its struggles securing payment for its players and staff ever since Mark Jarvis took over from Dan Palami in 2018.

Jarvis sold Global to a Hong Kong-based consortium named Mazinyi Management, which immediately signed the likes of one-time Manchester United youth player John Cofie and former LA Galaxy midfield Jose Villarreal.

But a graphic designer named Saya Jaruda revealed that Global failed to pay him for his services before Cofie bared that he had not received any wages since inking on the dotted line to join the club.
