GAB gives Global FC 10 days to explain side on unpaid wages

The Games and Amusements Board has given embattled Philippines Football League side Global FC 10 days to explain its failure to settle the unpaid wages of players and staff.

The Philippine News Agency reported that Global is facing the prospect of having its license revoked if it fails to respond to a show cause order of the government body for professional sports.

"To comply with the due process requirements, the board has conducted investigation and thus issued a show cause order to the management of Global FC to explain its side in writing within 10 days from receipt of such order," GAB said.

GAB’s move came days after Global failed to make good on its promise to PFL officials that it will fulfill all financial obligations within a 10-day period.

The Philippine Football Federation is likely to decide on having Global lose its license to play in the PFL.

Global has been dealing with struggles paying its players since current consultant Mark Jarvis took over operations of the club two years ago from Philippine Azkals team manager Dan Palami.

It appeared that Global had already figured a way to solve their woes when Jarvis sold the club to a Hong Kong-based consortium named Mazinyi Management, resulting in the signing of former Manchester United youth player John Cofie and ex-LA Galaxy midfielder Jose Villarreal.

But Global faced more controversy recently after the club's former graphics designer named Saya Jaruda and Cofie bared that they have yet to receive their salaries.

Jaruda has since been paid by the club but that didn't prevent the PFL from looking into the matter.
