PBA: Northport's Bolick cleared to join practice

NorthPort confirmed Thursday that Robert Bolick has been cleared to join practice after his rookie campaign was cut short by an ACL injury.

Team manager Bonnie Tan said Bolick will take part in the training sessions once the Batang Pier get a green light from the PBA.

The Batang Pier and other PBA clubs are still playing the waiting game after Metro Manila and surrounding provinces were placed under stricter Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine since Aug. 4.

Bolick has been diligent in his road to recovery by doing individual workouts in Tan’s private gym in Banawe, Quezon City even when Metro Manila was still under Enhanced Community Quarantine.

“His rehab has been continuous even during ECQ days,” Tan told the Manila Bulletin. “I can attest to that because he works out at my private gym.”

Bolick is not the only NorthPort player set to return from injury, Tan said.

Jonathan Grey and Bradwyn Guinto are also expected to participate in the training resumption after being sidelined late last year.

Grey ruptured his patellar tendon in June 2019 while Guinto was already cleared earlier this year after being sidelined by a knee problem.

Bolick averaged 13.5 points, 5.1 assists and 4.9 assists in 32 games with the Batang Pier last season, eventually placing second to Terra Firma’s CJ Perez in the race for Rookie of the Year honors.

The former San Beda standout hurt his right knee during the fourth quarter of NorthPort’s 127-119 win over San Miguel Beer last October 23 at the Cuneta Astrodome.
