When I was younger, I loved watching “Sic o’clock news ,” a comedy show formatted as a news program “anchored” by Jaime Fabregas and Ces Quesada under the direction of Marilou Diaz Abaya.

After almost 20 years, I did not expect to revive the format. It’s on “BGC news” which stands for our names: Beks Batallion, comprisedof Chad Kinis, MC Muah and Lassy; G stands for yours truly, Giselle Sanchez; and C stands for Candy Pangilinan.
Here are some samples of our news headlines:
“Tindera ng suka, tinoyo!”
“Lamok kinagat ng kapwa lamok, na-dengge!”
“Manananggal, nagpa-picture ng half body!”
“Singer pinatay… pinatay ang Karaoke ng kapitbahay sa ingay!”
We write and direct the segments ourselves.
I have a weather segment while Chad has a DIY (Do-it yourself segment) where he transforms a man’s brief into a woman’s sports bra.
Lassie has a knowledge channel segment entitled “Alam mo ba?” MC Muah is the latest celebrity vlogger doing blind items on celebrities.
Candy has her table talk where she interviews public figures and public servants.

Her segment got us trending when she interviewed Police Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar, who also happens to be the commander of theJoint Task Force COVID Shield (JTF CV Shield).
But since General Eleazar was on a comedy show, he was prepared to answer the crazy questions Candy threw at him. He even joined her in singing “Twinkle Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" (it had to be three twinkles since Eleazar is a three star general).
Of course, the general was still able to send his message to Filipinos that defying the law is no joke and that transgressors will be punished.
The general’s guesting on “BGC news”was posted last Saturday and all the comments on Viva Entertainment’s Facebook Page are all about him.
Fresh “BGC news” episodes will be posted there Saturdays, 8 p.m. with replays on Cignal Cable Channel 42 every Monday, 7 p.m.
