DAVAO CITY - A three-year old girl from Davao City is among the two coronavirus disease (COVID-19) fatalities reported by the Department of Health Davao Center for Health and Development (DOH-DCHD) on Sunday, August 2.
Based on the profiles of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Davao region on August 2, the child from Matina Pangi here had the onset of symptoms on July 29. She was admitted on July 30 and died on the same day.
The other fatality was a 69-year-old man from Barangay 37-D here. The patient had the onset of symptoms on July 26 and was admitted on July 29. The patient died on August 2.
The history of exposures of the two fatalities was still under investigation.
Meanwhile, two young girls aged four and six from Davao City were among those who were discharged on Sunday. The girls are from Barangay San Antonio in Agdao and Barangay 5-A , respectively.
On Monday, August 3, the DOH reported another fatality from Davao City, but the profile of the latest cases have not yet been released.
As of August 3, the region has recorded a total of 52 deaths, 43 of which are from Davao City.
The DOH also reported one new positive case and 18 recoveries on Monday bringing to 1,374 the total number of cases, 492 active cases. The new positive case is a returning overseas Filipino worker.
On the first day of August, the region recorded 50 cases, one death and 27 recoveries. Among the latest cases where four children, including a nine-year-old girl was from Lower Marber in Matanao Davao del Sur, an eight-year-old boy from Maa in Davao City, a five-year-old girl from Sto. Nino in Talaingod, Davao del Norte, and a six-year-old boy from Nangan in Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental.
An 84-year-old man from Barangay Pampanga here also died on July 31, only two days after the onset of symptoms were reported. The patient was admitted on July 30.
Meanwhile, a 10-month-old boy from Aragon, Cateel in Davao Oriental was the youngest of those who have successfully recovered on Saturday. The boy was a locally stranded individual from Manila. The region has so far recorded 830 successful recoveries.
