Erik Matti is adding another accolade to his name, winning Best Director of a Scripted TV Program at the inaugural ContentAsia Awards Friday for his work in an episode of HBO Asia’s original series, “Food Lore” dubbed “Island of Dreams.”
The episode, as written by Michiko Yamamoto (“On the Job,” “Honor Thy Father”), explores the life of an industrious mother, played by Angeli Bayani, who left her husband and children to work as a domestic helper in Metro Manila.

She will return home only to realize she has grown estranged to her family.
“Food Lore” was also named Best Asian Drama in the Regional/International Market category.
HBO Asia also took home Best Drama Series/Telefilm made for a Local Asian Market for “Invisible Stories.”
The ContentAsia Awards celebrates the "best screen-based content," which organizers believe is much needed given how the pandemic showed "gigantic demand" for the same.
