CEBU CITY—The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) is now coronavirus disease (COVID-19)-free.
CCPO Chief Col. Josefino Ligan said the remaining infected policeman, who has been staying in an isolation center, already tested negative in his second swab test.
The policeman will be released from the isolation facility next week and will be reporting back to work after a seven-day rest, said Ligan.
A total of 113 CCPO personnel were infected with COVID-19, and two of them died.
“Most of the infected personnel got the virus while conducting anti-illegal drug operations,” said Ligan.
Ligan said the CCPO was able to prevent the virus from infecting more policemen by isolating arrested crime suspects.
“Arrested persons were isolated first in a facility before they were brought to police detention cells,” said Ligan.
To ensure the speedy recovery of the infected personal, the Police Regional Office Central Visayas (PRO 7) put up a recovery center exclusive for personnel of various law enforcement agencies.
The infected personnel were attended to by the medical quick response team of PRO 7’s Regional Health Service and personnel of the Cebu City Health Department at the Cebu City Resource Management and Development Center (Cremdec) compound in Barangay Taptap.
