NBS issues a statement that denies social media rumors about its closure at malls

If you’re one of those bookworms and “art hoes” crying over rumors that National Book Store (NBS) will not be accessible at every mall anywhere anymore, then save those tears for something more relevant.
NBS has recently issued a statement disclosing the status of its stores at “expensive malls,” denying a circulating social media post about its closure and that only standalone stores will retain operations. The bookstore admits that it has been going through difficulties adapting to the new normal, but the tireless efforts and the support given by mall partners such as Ayala, Robinsons, and SM prevail. “This gives us the chance to focus our energies on trying to overcome this crisis and continue to serve our customers and communities,” NBS says in the statement.
The team behind NBS may be hard at work evaluating non-performing locations to see if they should undergo downsizing or temporary closure, but the vast majority of stores nationwide remain open “to serve your homeschooling, distance learning, and work from home needs with stringent protocols in place to ensure your safety.”
As part of the company’s new course of business, NBS is strengthening its e-commerce platforms through the website nationalbookstore.com and official stores on Shopee and Lazada. For a more convenient and secure checkout at home, it has developed new channels and accessible commands such as Text to Order via SMS or Viber, and Chat to Shop on Facebook Messenger.
“National Book Store has overcome a lot of difficulties and obstacles since its humble beginnings nearly 80 years ago. We remain committed to our promise of being your lifelong partner in learning, creativity, and self-expression, and will strive to continue fulfilling this promise as best as we can. Thank you to all our mall partners, banks, suppliers, and most significantly our loyal customers for your continuing support during this challenging time,” the statement concludes.
