ZAMBOANGA CITY – A fire of undetermined origin razed to ground a three-storey, five-door commercial building located at center of the commercial district of this city shortly before sunrise Sunday, August 23.

The fire gutted the Malicsi building located on Mayor Cesar C Climaco Avenue in this city whose tenants were all engaged in various type of trading.
According to fire probers, the blaze started at the second floor of an electrical store in the building at around 4 a.m., and immediately spread to the adjacent stores in the building.
The Malicsi building was located less than 100 meters to the Zamboanga City Central Fire station.
Fire investigators said no one was reported injured in the fire that lasted for two hours.
The City Government of Zamboanga said the fire reached the third alarm and was placed under control at 6:10 a.m.
"At least five establishments were razed to the ground - National Bakery, Times Restaurant, Rhogy Gold Berry Boutique, RSD Enterprises and Ideal Maxi Dress. No casualty was reported," it added in a statement.
It added that damage to property was estimated to have reach about P2 million.
The building was one of the most famous attractions in this city.
