YouTube declares BTS 'Dynamite' as setting biggest MV Premiere

K-pop superstars BTS have set a new record for their new single “Dynamite,” which came out on Aug. 21. 

YouTube told Bulletin Entertainment that “Dynamite” set a new all-time record for the biggest music video Premiere with viewers of over 3 million peak concurrents.


This overtakes BLACKPINK’s “How You Like That” music video, which had 1.66 million peak concurrent viewers on June 26 and set the record for the biggest YouTube Premiere. 

“Dynamite” also topped iTunes in at least 97 countries including the US, Philippines, Canada, UK, Vietnam and Thailand, according to site KWorb. 
It is BTS’ first all-English since debut and was released just six months after the idol group dropped their album “Map of the Soul: 7” last February. 

The “Dynamite” MV pays homage to the disco era, which became popular in the 70s, with retro concept props, hairstyles and attire. According to Big Hit Entertainment, BTS did not initially plan to release a digital single but the “members’ eagerness to be with their beloved fans as soon as they could won the day.”


“Dynamite” is BTS’ message of hope for their million of fans around the world who are affected by the coronavirus disease pandemic. 


“We are in the period when the whole world is in distress because of the ceaseless COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, we want to give our fans vitality and perseverance,” they previously said.
