Eric Fructuoso elaborates on viral video, salutes tricycle drivers

After a photo that shows him driving a tricycle went viral over the weekend, Eric Fructuoso has this to say about it: "Hindi po totoong namamasada ako ng trike."

The photo that made the rounds online was from his Instagram account. He wrote as caption: “Times like these hindi pwedeng kaartehan ang paiiralin! Basta ligal na pagkakakitaan para sa mga anak, tirahin lang ng tirahin!”

Many netizens praised the actor for his efforts to "earn a living" amid pandemic.

Later, Eric cleared things up.

"May kumpare akong trike driver sa BF Homes at nung nag garage sale ako dati eh yung mga kasamahan niyang trike drivers na tropa ang bumile ng mga Ralph Lauren at Ferragamo ko. Kaya nga ‘barya lang sa umaga’ dahil buo buo pera nila,” he wrote on the same platform.

Eric stressed his viral post aims to underscore that that there is nothing wrong about being a tricycle driver, and that is a noble job that deserves respect.

“Sa panahon kasi ngayon, hindi ka pwedeng maarte. Hindi pwedeng kaartehan ang pairalin. Basta pagkakakitaan legal, para sa pamilya, tirahin lang nang tirahin," he said. “Because I believe by example. Ibig sabihin, magiging good example tayo sa kapwa. Hindi natin ikahihiya pa kung ano ang ginagawa natin. Kasi may iba, nahihiya ang magbenta-benta, nahihiya sa pagde-deliver ng kung ano-ano. Huwag kayong mahihiya. At least, kikita, di ba? Tsaka kailangan hangga’t hindi sila ang nagpapakain sa inyo, huwag niyo silang intindihin.”
