CEU strengthens psychology partnership with prestigious Korean university, HGU

The newly received psychology books from HGU is the first of many productive outcomes from the partnership

The Centro Escolar University (CEU) School of Science and Technology has recently received 63 new books from the Handong Global University (HGU) in Pohang, South Korea. The books will be used for CEU’s psychology students and teachers.

This is one of the first of many collaborations and arrangements between the two universities from opposite ends of the Asian continent.

HGU is the newest international partner of the CEU School of Science and Technology. The partnership started last year when Dr. Hyejeong Kim, an associate professor of psychology in HGU and the director of Malaysia’s UNITWIN Program visited CEU Manila’s campus to discuss the UNESCO UNITWIN program.

According to UNESCO’s website, the UNITWIN program “promotes international cooperation and networking between universities.” The goal of the program is to help reinforce higher education institutions worldwide, bridge the knowledge gap, and mobilize university expertise in order to collaborate around the UN’s Sustainable Development Agenda 2030.

“We are welcoming Handong Global University as our newest partner. They will join the long list of international collaborators that our school has kept for the past years for academic, research, and cultural linkages,” says Dr. Julieta Dungca, the death of the CEU School of Science and Technology. “We hope this new alliance will bring many productive and meaningful outcomes.”

Aside from the donated books, HGU also promises to share with CEU students and faculty some online learning materials. They will complement what the faculty members have already prepared and uploaded to CEU’s Learning Engagement and Proficiency System (LEAPS), the university’s learning management platform.
