United City has signed Fil-Swiss goalkeeper Anthony Pinthus on loan from the Azkals Development Team to complete its buildup for the Philippines Football League and AFC Cup.
Club co-founder Eric Gottschalk confirmed Pinthus’ addition after reaching an agreement with Azkals coach Scott Cooper.

“This was also agreed on by both clubs and supported by Philippines National Head Coach Scott Cooper, to expose Pinthus to the AFC Cup competition,” said Gottschalk.
Pinthus is best remembered for serving as starting goalkeeper of the Azkals U-22 team during the country’s hosting of last year’s Southeast Asian Games.
The 22-year-old started all three matches for the Philippines, earning a clean sheet during a 1-0 win over Malaysia at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Pinthus will be surrounding a loaded United City lineup led by former Ceres players Stephan Schrock, Bienvenido Maranon, OJ Porteria, Robert Lopez Mendy and brothers Manny and Mike Ott.
“He is the most promising goalkeeper of the Philippines after Neil and Roland and we are happy that he decided to join us for this season, as we believe that UCFC is the right platform to expose him to top Asian football, while learning from our veterans,” said Gottschalk.
The club is still looking for a coach after Serbian Risto Vidakovic, who guided Ceres to four domestic trophies and the 2017 AFC Cup ASEAN Zonal title, announced that he won’t be part of United City.
