Online IronKids: 'Keep Fit At Home' launched

With races rescheduled next year due to the coronavirus pandemic, Alaska Fortified IronKids decided to come up with virtual activities for kids to help cope up with the new normal.

Dubbed as “Keep Fit At Home,” the program will have a series of virtual runs, online workouts and web presentations in the coming months to continue their mission of promoting an active lifestyle to the youth particularly during this time of pandemic.

The virtual runs are open for participants as young as four years old up to 14 years old in various age group categories. Major distance events are 1K, 1.5K, 2K and 3K.

Participants can run outdoors or use treadmill for the race, then log in their times online.

The first of the 10-race series will start on Saturday until Sunday, and will run for the next consecutive weekends.

Ironman pros Dimity-Lee Duke and Sam Betten of Australia, Ani De Leon-Brown and August Benedicto, meanwhile, will be hosting workout videos on demand to guide all kids on how to keep fit at home.

“It’s a good little concept and I just hope kids get something out of it in the end once we get back to normality,” said Duke in an online press launching on Wednesday.
