Woo Do-hwan meets 'His Majesty' Lee Min Ho before his enlistment

Actor Woo Do-hwan, 27, who starred in the K-drama “The King: Eternal Monarch,” enlisted today (July 6) in the Korean military.

A day before his enlistment, co-star Lee Min Ho met him to bid farewell. Photos uploaded by Woo Do-hwan on Instagram on July 5 showed him with short hair and having a fun time with Lee Min Ho. The two became close while filming “The King: Eternal Monarch,” which ran from April to June this year.

All able-bodied Korean men are required to enlist by age 28. Woo Do-hwan will be enlisting at the 15th Division recruitment training center in Hwacheon, Gangwon Province for his basic military training.

"I know this may be too unexpected, but I'm enlisting in the military on July 6. Sorry for surprising you like this, and not being able to see you before my enlistment,” said Woo Do-hwan in a letter to fans, SBS News reported.

He added, "I feel like my 20s were full of happiness, and it's all thanks to your love and support. I had been blessed with them. Thank you for making my 20s wonderful. Take good care of yourself, and be happy. I'll be back safely. My love for you is so huge that I don't really know how I should express that into words, but I love you lots!"

Woo Do-hwan, who made his acting debut in 2011, will be serving for 18 months as an active duty soldier and is expected to be discharged on Jan. 5, 2022.
